SPRING OVERSIZED BRUSH CLEAN UP
April 14 - 25 (same day as your regular yard waste/recycling pickup)
UP Refuse wants to help you with your Spring yard cleaning. During the week of April 14 - 25, 2007, set out your oversized brush and branches for pickup. Only branches and limbs are part of the clean up--we cannot accept stumps, dirt or other debris. All branches and limbs must be less than 4 inches in diameter. Place oversized brush at the curb on your regular yard waste/recycling day for pickup. Piles must be less than 6' by 6' by 6' for pickup.

OPERATION HANDS ON
Together we can make the world a better place
Operation Hands On is a great community group located at 8427 27th St. W., near the DMV. They began as a group assisting several families from the Hurricane Katrina disaster, and have since grown to be a full fledge, community-driven, non-profit emergency resource referral center that helps both local and national disaster survivors. Operations Hands On is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 am - 4 pm. If you're looking for an opportunity to volunteer in our community, if you'd like to contribute monetary or other resources, please stop by during office hours or contact them at (253) 273-9616. Operation Hands On does request that donors not leave items in front of the office due to vandalism and theft. More information is available at their website, www.operationhandson.org.

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED
     Commitment and dates vary
You can help make a difference in our city by volunteering for one of several public committees that meet to discuss everything from parks to planning to safety/police. Are you a responsible, well-informed UP resident with a desire to become more active in the community? Visit the City of UP website at this page for more information, or call City Hall at (253) 460-2511 for details.

YARD WASTE COMPOST/SOUNDGRO
     Available Year Round
Spring is just around the corner...it will soon be time to fertilize your lawn, garden and yard. This year, avoid chemical fertilizers and support a healthy environment and recycling by using UP Refuse's premium PREP Compost and Pierce County's new Sound-GRO fertilizer product.

Northwest gardens and lawns love PREP Compost (Pierce County Recycled Earth Products), a quality-tested, screened, 100 percent recycled yard waste compost. It's guaranteed to be weed seed-free, because we use a controlled, natural heat process during production. University Place Refuse distributes PREP in several quantities for your convenience. Unlike other municipal composts, which may contain sewage sludge and other such products, PREP compost is made entirely from plant materials--providing you with a rich, water-retentive compost that's filled with nutrients and approved for vegetable gardening.

Click here for our informative page about PREP Compost. We can deliver both bags or bulk, or you can stop by our offices to purchase PREP Compost.

Sound-GRO is also available at our offices.  Please check out Sound-GRO's website for more detailed information about this exciting product.

HOLIDAYS
Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's day are the ONLY holidays that we do not operate normal collection services. Pickups normally scheduled for those holidays will be picked-up one day later during the rest of that week.
